Hi, I'm Emily.
Welcome to At The Sunflower Studio, my Yoga and Wellness business.

I started practising yoga when I was 18 when my college put on a lunchtime class for sixth formers once a week. I used to love the gentle practice with a calming relaxation to finish. Since then, I have continued my yoga practice, attending a range of different classes taught by lots of different teachers.
​
I love essential oils and how they can benefit the body and the mind. I began studying aromatherapy in 2018 and now have diploma in this, gaining knowledge of the different essential oils and the incredible benefits of using them. I wouldn't teach a class without them now :)

In a previous life, I was a primary school teacher and also the Wellbeing and Mental Health lead. I've completed Mental Health First Aid courses as well as lots of mindfulness training sessions. I worked really hard to raise the profile of mental health and wellbeing for both pupils and staff across the school. This is something I am incredibly passionate about and is a value that I truly believe in, which is why I wanted to build it into my business.

I completed my Foundation course with the British Wheel of Yoga in 2018. This gave me a great insight into some of the history and philosophy behind yoga as well as exploring many different poses, breathing techniques, meditation practices and much more. Then in 2020, I completed my Yoga Alliance 200 hour yoga teacher training and launched my business, offering yoga classes and wellness advice. I decided to name my business At The Sunflower Studio because sunflowers are so cheery and vibrant. They always put a smile on my face, and so do my sausage dogs, Monty and Orla, who feature on my instagram page a lot!
